Columbia bag "Mocilla Wayu" tote bag
Regular selling price
- A bag made by hand that does not exist exactly the same
- Coordinated by a Wayuu woman in northern Colombia who inherits the motif (pattern) from generation to generation. Popular with those who want a bag that does not wear with others as a spice
Because it becomes compact when folded, you can use as a sub-bag or as an eco-bag. It is also recommended to carry it with a leather bag.
is what you can feel the hands of people
A bag with a pattern that combines a diamond shape with a bright color that is hard to see. No two are the same, and they are carefully knitted and made by Colombian women one by one for about 20 days.
Bags with a wide variety of colors and patterns
Mochila Wayuu ( Mochila Wayuu ), which means "Wayuu bag" in Spanish. Kiyoko Tsukamoto, the representative of Mochira Japan, is the who purchases the Mochirawayu directly from the local area. About 10 years ago. Mr. Tsukamoto, who often saw folk craft books such as furniture and accessories owned by his husband who had lived in Colombia, was his favorite. Especially, I was attracted to the bright colors of Colombian bags, which are not well known in Japan.
Books about Colombian folk crafts
Originally, Mr. Tsukamoto who was active as a merchandiser in "Tanino Christie" which was a shoe brand representing Italy. His interest in things and his eyes were more fertile than anyone else. It was the beginning of Mochira Japan that I consulted with her husband and had her sister in the field send me some Mochirawayu. Nowadays, it has become a popular bag for those who are a little tired of luxury brand bags.
As a spice for coordination (the product in the photo is a reference product)
Colombian "traditional crafts"
The Wayuu, known as the sun, desert, and wind tribes, are indigenous peoples of South America who live in the northernmost part of South America, the La Guajira Peninsula near the border between northern Colombia and Venezuela. The Wayuu people have survived for centuries on a resource-poor desert peninsula. Even in a harsh environment, the culture has been passed down unaffected, and Mochirawayu is one of them.
La Guajira Peninsula
Wayuu women have handed down traditional knitting from mother to child and from child to grandchild. A division of labor style has been established in which women do not take charge of everything, but women make the body of the bag and men make the handle.
The characteristic pattern of Mochirawayu is called Kanaas , and it has the meaning of abstracting the animals and symbols that exist in the daily life of the Wayuu people one by one. While the pattern has a fixed meaning, there are no rules for coloring and it is free. As a result, Mr. Tsukamoto says that he often encounters colors that move his heart.
Ethnic bags are not uncommon, but the point of concern is the quality. It's natural that it doesn't fray or tear, and I want an exquisite balance that doesn't become too casual. In that respect, Mochirawayu is firmly woven so it does not easily lose its shape , and there are other designs that are playful and original even if they are carried by adult women and men. This is a feature not found in.
Recently, other domestic products that imitate the colors and patterns of Mochirawayu are also on sale, but the bags handled by Mr. Tsukamoto are all directly imported from Colombian households. Everything is one-of-a-kind , so if you have a design that interests you, we recommend that you purchase it.
